Author Showcase: Stephen V Ramey
by Nathaniel Tower
Today we bring you Stephen V Ramey, author of the wonderful Post-Experimental piece “Monkey on My Mirror”, one of the first stories we accepted for the issue.
This is not the first time Stephen has been featured in Bartleby Snopes. About a year ago, his story “Into the Woods” was nominated for the Best of the Net Anthology.
Here’s what Stephen says about Post-Experimentalism: For me, it’s a return to open heart surgery after sampling noninvasive techniques that allow us to watch the heart’s function without having to push our fingers into the meat of it. We are informed, maybe even thrilled by such procedures, but they do not eclipse our deeper need for pulse. The very best stories, to my way of thought, invent technique to suit a story, and not the other way around.
Stephen V. Ramey is an eclectic writer, whose work has appeared in a variety of venues, from The Journal of Compressed Creative Arts, Bartleby Snopes and Connotation Press to Strange Horizons and Daily Science Fiction. He lives in beautiful New Castle, Pennsylvania, a rust belt city on the edge of resurrection, and is a proud member of Show Me Your Lits, an online community of flash fiction connoisseurs.
